How to download a dropbox file disabled from downloading

I did this using Box. It just sucks because I just switched from Box. That is literally the dumbest thing. I can't believe that they do not have that as a feature. It would be so simple to do. I agree that this is a sorely-needed feature. Dave is correct that it could be screen-capped, but that's pretty unlikely for most people.

I'd go a step further and say "one play" or "three plays" being possible. This could be used by business, which is my use-case to display a video to a customer, but practically prevent even video capture, since it will only play once.

So basically I can setup a password to a link I share with someone just to let preview the file, but the user can still download my file!!! The way we work is changing. Asked 7 years, 4 months ago. Posted 01 August - PM If you aren't the owner of the DropBox account it means the person who uploaded the files disabled the ability to download the files. Posted 01 August - PM I don't use DropBox that often so I can't say for sure but you may be able to find something in the below links.

However, sometimes, you also want to move your online files back to local devices such as computer, PC, iPad, phone, tablet, desktop, laptop, etc. But there comes a question on how to move files from Dropbox to computer? You will find three solutions from following parts. As you may know, you can directly transfer pictures from Dropbox to computer and you may also know how to move photos from Dropbox to computer making use of sync feature of Dropbox desktop app.

Go to Dropbox homepage and sign in with your Dropbox account. Select the check box in front of the file or folder, and then click the Download button. Wait for it finishes. The time it takes to finish the downloading depends on how large the file is and how fast your network is. Finally, you can find the file on your local computer. If you have already installed Dropbox desktop application and set to sync target files from cloud to local, you can find what you want in Dropbox folder on your computer directly.

If not, you have to, first of all, download it from its official webpage, install it on your computer and sign in your account to open it. Then, click on its icon on the right of the taskbar. Or — if I was on mobile — I could check the thumbnail previews and only download the pictures I needed. Audio and video can also be previewed, which is another data-saver.

Dropbox has a full list of all the file types that can be previewed. But many times, you want the raw file. If you send a Dropbox link instead, you get all the problems mentioned above.

So lets see how you can make sure the recipient gets only your file, and nothing else.
